To the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage

Section 48 of the Planning and Development Act 2024 expressly includes allotments and prescribed community gardens in local sustainable-place strategies. We ask the Government to turn that planning obligation into transparent delivery by:

publishing dated national implementation guidance for local authorities;
requiring clear local milestones showing how section 48 will be delivered; and
publishing a current, consistently maintained national baseline of sites, plots, availability and waiting lists.
